Dear Topeka Public Schools Family,
Welcome back! 2020 will be a great year with new courses and new opportunities available to all students. We missed our scholars over the break and are so excited for the semester ahead. Click here to view an article that features staff from Scott this week who were highlighted for creating an innovative way to track their school buses.
This week we celebrated one of the state's distinguished Horizon Award winners from Randolph Elementary School. The Commissioner of Education, Dr. Randy Watson, and our staff surprised our incredible first year teacher, Ms. Tawni Schraad at Randolph Elementary. Thursday we will also be celebrating our outstanding police officers during Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. See more about it in the article below.
This week was also a difficult week. We are deeply saddened by the passing of fifth-grade student, Makayla Lake. An article has been included in the newsletter with more information. Please keep her family and those impacted by the tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.
We wish you an incredible 2020 filled with many new and wonderful opportunities. Please take time to welcome our four new board members who will begin on January 23, 2020.
Dr. Tiffany Anderson
Superintendent
