Weekly Parent Letter 5-22-20

Dear TPS Parents and Guardians:

Thank you for your ongoing support of your child’s(ren) education. TPS celebrated students all week from high school graduations last Saturday to the many Preschool, 5th, and 8th-grade promotions virtually. These are all available for you to watch or share with family members on social media and our Topeka Public Schools website.

As we end the school year, we want to ensure Topeka area families are aware of the summer learning opportunities for their students and that TPS is also enrolling for the 2020-2021 school year now.

Virtual Summer Enrichment Camps: Topeka Public Schools recognizes that this summer looks different in that many of the community activities are limited due to the continued efforts to minimize exposure to the Coronavirus. As we enter summer vacation for students, we want to keep students engaged in learning and connected to school. Please visit and register for virtual summer opportunities at the TPS Summer Enrichment website.

High School Credit Recovery/Acquisition: High school students can work through their school counselors to register for Summer Credit Recovery or Acquisition Courses. These will be provided virtually and the refundable fee for summer courses is being waived this summer. Students can enroll for classes through the Topeka Public Schools Summer School Registration.

Enroll NOW for the 2020-2021 School Year: As we plan for next year, TPS will be offering greater opportunities for students to continue learning remotely through our Virtual School. In the enrollment process there will be some questions related to this option. You can enroll at any time at this link.

Summer Meal Services: Summer meals will be provided through the TPS Child Nutrition Services Department June 1 - July 24. The meal sites will serve on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. When lunches are picked up each day, they will include meals for that day and the next day. There will be 14 stationary meal sites: Avondale East, Chase MS, French MS, HPHS, Jardine MS, Lowman Hill, Meadows, Pine Ridge Prep, Quincy, Ross, Robinson, First Church of Nazarene, St. Davids, and Westminster Church.

For more and ongoing information, please visit our district's website at Expanded Meal Services.

Thank you for supporting your student’s continuous learning.
