Spreading Kindness In Our Schools

Dear Topeka Public Schools Family,

In February, we celebrated Valentine's Day as a time to spread love and kindness in our schools and throughout our community. Many students and staff are volunteering this month with a reminder to those we serve that we love them.

Pictured above are two of my mentees from Highland Park High School that are participants in the mentor program staff members at our central office started three years ago, to support a senior with graduation. This month, we are also highlighting the many African-American Topekans currently making history and those who have made history. Some facts can be viewed on our Twitter account by clicking here.

It was a pleasure to visit the Capitol to see Robinson Middle School student, Ariana Hutchinson, being recognized as the current title holder of Little Miss Wheelchair Kansas. She is an example of what strong, young, female leadership looks like in action. As a result of Ariana’s advocacy, new construction is being completed at Landon Middle School to further enhance areas and make them accessible to everyone.

Thank you for supporting us through the weather challenges and helping us prepare for the celebration of learning festivities in March and April.
