Dear Topeka Families, Staff and Community,
This past week, many of our schools celebrated Thanksgiving by volunteering in our community. The Jardine Student Council helped prepare for the annual community Thanksgiving dinner. Students and staff at Capital City High School partnered with the Harvesters Community Food Network to host a food pantry at Hummer Sports Park. Staff at Cap City provided every family with a full Thanksgiving basket. The video to that story can be viewed by clicking here.
As we enter the winter holidays, we encourage you to extend a helping hand to others in need. Community members can donate canned goods and warm winter clothing to their school or to Burnett Central Office for students and families in need. Donations can also be sent to the Quinton Heights Welcome Center for the Community Cupboard. In addition to those giving opportunities, this time of year is also great for providing a donation to Topeka Public Schools students with a negative lunch account balance. A simple gesture of donating any amount to remove a negative balance impacts a family. To donate, call our Food Service Program at (785) 295-3097 and ask to make a donation to lunches. Thank you for your love and generosity extended to Topeka Public Schools.
