Celebrations Take Place Across the District

Dear Topeka Public Schools Family,

This month we are celebrating National School Counseling Week, our Kansas City Chiefs, as well as black history. At our upcoming board meeting, art from various schools will be displayed along with winning photos from Living the Dream. We were so excited to help our students celebrate the Chiefs at school today. As part of the celebration, we shared a live-stream link of the parade for our schools to watch. Additionally, many of our teachers taught Chiefs inspired lessons. We are preparing for our own "Super Bowl of Learning" as we prepare for our KAP assessments in the spring and we are working to lead with an 11% increase just as the Chiefs led with an 11 point victory.

As we celebrated the Chiefs and concluded our Living the Dream activities, nonperishables were donated for our pantry. Quincy Elementary collected over 600 of the 3,000  nonperishables and is the winner in donating the highest amount of food from one school. Collective support to serve others is a message that we were able to give all week.

Some school board members and I attended various school parades. Pictured are students at Shaner Early Learning Academy. Board member, Sue Bolley, participated in the Chase Middle School parade where students were led by Principal Norman in their celebration of the Chiefs.

Thank you to our families, partners and all staff members for working as a team for continuous improvement as we ensure all students succeed!
