Celebrating Read Across America
Dear Topeka Public Schools Family,
This week is national School Social Work Week and also Social Work month. Join me in celebrating our social workers as we highlight the many ways we support the social emotional needs of students. Each day this week on our web page, we will highlight resources focused on trauma informed support systems in TPS and innovative approaches that have improved the lives of children in Topeka. My video message can be viewed by clicking here. Our social workers and school leaders will also be sharing video messages throughout this month. As we prepare for Spring Break, we have included a mental health resource from the November Community Newsletter. Additional mental health information is under quick links for families. This week is also Read Across America Week and I have had a blast reading at schools. The picture of students holding bookmarks is from Ms. Stauffer's fourth grade class at Jardine Elementary. Throughout the break we will be hosting classes at the Rescue Mission for students in attendance. Have a relaxing Spring Break! Check out our website and TV station for resources over the break or email me if you need anything next week.
